Experience overview.

The handling of hazardous substances is a necessary part of many occupations. Different types of hazardous substances require different levels of protection and identification, but all must be handled, transported, and disposed safely to prevent harm to workers and the environment. To achieve this, workers need to know how to navigate and utilise the appropriate safety data sheets (SDS). Next World’s VR Hazardous Substances training course teaches employees the importance of following these SDSs when working around high-risk substances. Trainees are presented with several different scenarios in which they must identify the necessary information, using the appropriate sections of an SDS.

    • Explore an immersive warehouse environment as you practice identifying the different types of hazardous substances and their properties

    • Experience the consequences of poor hazardous substance handling

Learning Outcomes

The central focus of this course is to teach employees how to safety work around and handle hazardous substances.

Identify hazards associated with working with hazardous substances by using safety data sheets (SDS) and visual inspection.

Understand the importance of labelling hazardous substances according to the globally harmonised system (GHS) and recognise the nine hazard class pictograms.

Recognise the potential health risks and appropriate first-aid measures for different types of exposure to hazardous substances.

Demonstrate knowledge of proper handling, storage, and disposal procedures for hazardous substances based on information provided in the SDS.

Apply knowledge of SDS information to assess and identify hazards in real-world scenarios, making informed decisions on whether an activity is safe or hazardous.
