Next World’s VR Manual Handing course is designed to teach employees how to safety complete manual handling tasks, including understanding which musculoskeletal systems are at risk, how the Hierarchy of Controls can be used to manage risks, and how to identify dangerous manual handling scenarios.

Learning Outcomes

The central focus of this course is to teach employees the fundamentals of hazard identification and how to implement control measures.

Understand the risks and potential musculoskeletal disorders associated with improper manual handling, particularly back injuries.

Learn and apply the hierarchy of controls to eliminate or minimise hazards related to manual handling tasks, including elimination, substitution, engineering controls, administrative procedures, and personal protective equipment (PPE).

Develop knowledge of proper planning techniques for manual handling tasks, considering factors such as location, available equipment, load weight, load stability, and consulting supervisors when necessary.

Acquire the skills to perform safe lifting techniques, including maintaining a straight back, using the legs to lift, positioning feet at the width of the load, and avoiding twisting the back.

Recognise and identify improper manual handling tasks in a workplace setting, demonstrating the ability to assess and suggest appropriate control measures for safer manual handling practices.
